In a Perfect World, Students in Distress Would be Easy to Spot

Students don’t write their problems on a nametag each day and stick it where the world can see. But, every day, students show signs of distress, disengagement and attrition: In a classroom (physical or online), in their residence hall, at home with family, or on a survey. EarlyIQ helps schools capture and funnel the information necessary to efficiently spot students at risk and, if appropriate, intervene and track follow up.

What is EarlyIQ

EarlyIQ listens to students themselves through periodic surveys; captures issues as reported by faculty, staff, and concerned community members (parents, roommates, friends, etc.); considers information from your student information and learning management systems and funnels this data to flag students at risk. EarlyIQ then facilitates a holistic follow-up—from responder outreach to deploying relevant content and interactive exercises—until each issue is closed.

Proven Yesterday, Not Born Yesterday.

Software is only one part of the solution to successful early intervention. Our web-based products are rooted in experience and proven processes. Our early warning tools have been in place on campuses for almost a decade. Last year alone, ConnectEDU alert survey modules captured more than 1.5 million responses from students and parents. And our process is built from an understanding of the way student services function in today’s higher education context.

The EarlyIQ Process

Collect
EarlyIQ collects information from your student information system (SIS), learning management system (LMS), self-reported student surveys, periodic faculty surveys and anonymous data from concerned community members (parents, roommates, etc.) and funnels this information into a central dashboard in the form of student flags (red, orange or yellow) and RFIs (Requests for Intervention).

Comprehend
Administrative users command a powerful, easy-to-navigate central dashboard in which they can review incoming RFIs and recently flagged students, assign tasks to responders or deploy self-management content, initiate and review progress against action plans, and assess program engagement and outcomes.

Collaborate
EarlyIQ enables multiple responders—residence life, student health, disciplinary services—to come together according to suggested action plans based on existing campus workflows.

Communicate
Efficiently and effectively communicate with individual students to address their unique needs. Students may receive help from one or more support sources—counseling center, academic skills center, peer mentors, residence hall personnel and more. Simultaneously, selected students can begin receiving web-based content from our expert-written Virtual Success Center.
