오늘은 많은 분들이 관심있어하실 만한 미국 의대 진학과 관련한 정보를 나눠보고자 합니다. ​

미국의사되기, 미국의대가기 등등 미국 의대와 관련한 키워드로 검색을 많이 하시는데요, ​ 미국 의대는 의학전문대학원 과정으로 대부분 학부에서 관련 수업(Pre-med Track 수강: 전공이 아닙니다.)을 수강한 후 MCAT(Medical College Admission Test)를 보시고 AMCAS 를 통해 희망하시는 메디컬스쿨(의학전문대)를 지원하여 본격적인 의대생의 길을 걷게 됩니다. ​

그래서 일반적으로 이공계쪽 전공을 공부하면서 (물론 문과 전공생도 상관없습니다) 학교에 pre-med advising program 이 있는 경우 카운슬러를 찾아가 상담을 통해 MCAT 시험 준비와 의전원 준비를 위한 과목선정의 도움을 받아야 합니다. ​

이 밖에 학부 입학부터 Premedical 이 컴바인딩 된 6-8년 과정을 제공하는 학교도 있습니다.

BS/MD (Bachelor's of Science/Doctor of Medicine) 을 묶어서 6년- 8년 과정의 학부 신입생을 선발하는 학교 입니다.

하지만 BS/MD 학생들 역시 MCAT 을 봐야하며 어느정도의 성적이 돼야 DM 과정으로 올라갈 수 있습니다.

[BS/MD 유학생도 가능할까요?]

​

중요한 것은, BSMD 역시 합격이 쉽지 않으며,

유학생들에게는 더더욱 기회의 문이 좁답니다.

​

어릴 때 미국유학을 간 학생들의 경우

미국의사가 되고자 하는 동기가 어느정도 충분하지만

​

한국에서 고등학교를 졸업하고

미국의사가 되고자

BSMD 에 지원하는 것이

AO들에게 충분히 납득이 되어야 하는데,

그 시작 동기자체를 개연성있게 담아내는 것이 쉽지않습니다.

​

하지만, 내 꿈은 미국 의사라는

진정성을 충분히 전달할 수 있는 에세이를 작성할 수 있고

그 무엇보다도

진심으로

간절한 꿈이라면

후회없이 도전해 보시기 바랍니다 :)

[Pre-med Track 을 선택한다면? ]

대학 진학 후 Pre-med Track을 선택하여

졸업 후 메디컬 스쿨에 도전하고자 하는 학생들은

아래의 메디컬 스쿨 합격률이 높은 학교로 진학하신 후

pre-medical program 을

선택하시는 것이 좋습니다.

[Medical School 은 국제학생 지원 가능한가요? ]

메디컬 스쿨을 지원하기 위해서는 우선 학부 GPA 관리가 중요합니다.

그리고 MCAT 성적을 기본적을 잘 받아 주셔야 합니다.

그리고 학부 시절 임상실험과 연구 관련한 인턴십등을 백분 지원하고 활용해야 합니다.

원어민 같은 영어 실력과 4년간의 학비를 지불 할 수 있는 경제력도 증명할 수 있어야 합니다.

자료에 따르면 2017년 총 1933 명의 국제학생들이 메디컬 스쿨을 지원하였고

350명이 합격했으나, 최종 등록은 274명만 했다고 합니다. 이처럼 불가능한 것만은 아닙디ㅏ.

하지만 모든 메디컬 스쿨이 국제학생을 받아 주지는 않습니다.
